Writing Center
The Writing Center is a place where students go to obtain assistance with all phases of the writing process, to help writers become more effective writers.
Writing Support Services
- Strategies for getting ideas, writing drafts, improving expression by tightening, sharpening, and deleting.
- A place to talk about ideas, to engage in the trial and error process of composing.
- Available resources include writing effective topic sentences, revising guidelines, graphic organizers, writing research papers, MLA, APA, transitions, compare and contrast, and to help students feel confident about making changes on their own.

- Send Dr. Whitlow an email to set-up an in person meeting appointment for a 30 minute writing consultation.

Dr. Jan Whitlow
This is Dr. Whitlow’s fourth year at Park Hill South. Along with supporting the PHS online students and the Writing Center, she is a Teaching Professor for Northwest Missouri State University and Park University.
Prior to her teaching experience, she held various marketing and education positions for Hallmark Cards, Inc. and Saint Luke’s Health System. She is known for her leadership experience, integrity and expertise in business and education. Specialties include program and project management, strategic planning, marketing, public speaking, and team building. Dr. Whitlow is passionate about helping students achieve their educational goals.
