Our mission is to provide a welcoming environment that invites individuals from all backgrounds to strengthen relationships and foster interrelatedness through the joy of dance. We are a group formed from love, built on a foundation of diversity, inclusion, and equity. The Pantherettes are a Majorette and Step club. Majorette is a style of dance that began in the late 1960s at historically black colleges and universities, or HBCUs. It combines the energy of the high-step marching style of black college bands with West African, jazz, modern, and hip-hop choreography. Step which is also known as stepping is a complex synchronized dancelike performance that blends African folk traditions with popular culture. The participant's entire body is used as an instrument to produce complex rhythms and sounds through a mixture of footsteps, spoken words, and hand claps.
