Baseball consists of three teams: varsity, JV, and freshman. Competitive tryouts are held in February. The squads range in size. Players are expected to exhibit excellent study and practice habits, good citizenship and mandated grade point levels as described in the student handbook.
The first day of practice is March 1. Golf fields a varsity and JV squad. Participants must be present at all practices and on time, and must follow all rules of golf as mandated by the USGA. Students are responsible for their own transportation to the Deuce at the National Golf Club each day for practice. Off-season meetings are optional starting in January.
The Park Hill South girls soccer program focuses on the full development of players and team, both in soccer and in character, while striving to achieve success on the field and in life. We typically have three teams: varsity, JV, and a C team.
Park Hill South’s boys’ tennis team is a no-cut program that offers competition at the varsity, junior varsity, and C-team levels. While practices begin in February, competition begins in late march and can run through May. We determine positions by performance in competitive situations. For those hoping to challenge for varsity positions, year-round play is strongly encouraged. For those new to the sport, the C-team offers opportunities to begin playing a life-long sport.
Track & Field is a team sport with an individual component, and is open to all students of varying abilities. There are no tryouts or reduction in numbers. Track athletes have the opportunity to compete in 19 different events.
Our season schedule is set up so that each ability and grade level has an opportunity to participate in several meets early in the track season. Our primary focus is to give all students the opportunity to challenge for a varsity position, achieve individual success while competing for their team and to create outstanding young adults. We highly encourage participation in off-season conditioning that starts in the summer.
Anyone who is interested in participating in Track and Field this spring should complete this form (for boys) or this form (for girls) to give us your information. We have already started winter conditioning but you are more than welcome to join us. We meet Monday through Friday after school from 3:15-4:45. We usually meet on the track, but if it is too cold then we meet by the grand staircase. If we meet inside an announcement will be made.
