Attendance Procedures

attendance

Park Hill South High School is committed to the philosophy that every student should attend every class, every day in order to have a successful academic experience. Learning to participate in group discussions, developing an appreciation for the views and abilities of other students, and forming the habit of regular attendance are legitimate objectives for any course. Learning lost due to absence can never be adequately replaced. The attendance office procedures have been streamlined resulting in significant gains made in student attendance at the high school. Your cooperation has been greatly appreciated. Please familiarize yourself with the procedures to ensure the continued success.

Although medical notes are not required to excuse an absence, we are encouraging students to bring in a note from appointments for his/her file. Parents still need to call to excuse a student for being late or absent for a medical appointment, but a doctor’s note on letterhead with the specific date of the appointment will be put on file when provided.  Notes will need to be turned into the attendance office so they can be entered into Infinite Campus and put into the student’s file. If your student is in the A+ program, attendance will make a copy for the student’s file and the student can keep the original for a file at home if they need it for any reason for the A+ program. Medical notes include family doctors, urgent care, hospitals, physical therapy, orthodontist, dentist, etc.  All A+ attendance should be directed to the A+ Coordinator, Dr. Amanda Roth.
