Proficiency Based Learning
Proficiency-Based Learning
Each Student - Every Day
To fulfill the district’s instructional belief statements and to support our goals to increase each student's sense of belonging and sense of rigor, we have incorporated Proficiency-Based Learning within the classrooms of Park Hill South. Proficiency-Based Learning clearly defines what each student needs to learn to master content in every class. This allows students to own their learning and gives families a clearer understanding of what their student currently knows and needs to improve. Proficiency-Based Learning strengthens the relationship between student and teacher by making learning a partnership.

Professional Learning Communities
ELOs are driven by Park Hill South’s Professional Learning Communities, or PLCs. These communities are course-specific. For example, all world history teachers meet together regularly to build consensus around their ELOs, which are deployed to all students in the course.
