2017 Graduation Information
Graduation InforamtionIt will soon be time for Park Hill South to graduate the class of 2017. We have prepared this mailing as a means of informing you of the many events planned for our graduates during this exciting time.

Graduation Announcement delivery day
Graduation Announcements will be delivered to seniors on February 21st during lunch. Additional announcement delivery date will be February 27th during lunch.

Cap and Gown delivery day
Cap and Gowns will be delivered to seniors on April 3rd during lunch and April 7th from 7:00 a.m.–7:30 a.m. in the commons. It is recommended to try on the cap and gown to avoid any last minute problems with the fit. If you have not ordered your cap and gown, please contact Jostens at 816-523-4900. You will need to know the students height and weight when placing the order.

Senior Picnic
Senior picnic will be on Wednesday, April 19th. It will be a fun day for seniors to hang out, play kickball and enjoy the company of their classmates with pizza, soda and desserts. 11:00am-2:00pm at English Landing Park, Parkville, MO.  Pizza provided be Stone Canyon. Senior Award Night
Senior Awards will be presented on Tuesday, April 25th at 6:30 p.m. in the Auditorium. We will celebrate each senior and the scholarships they have been awarded from post-secondary institutions as well as other scholarship opportunities. Only students who have input scholarship information on the Google Doc will be recognized on April 25th. Scholarships - There are a number of scholarship opportunities on the Scholarship List, which can be found on Naviance/Family Connections. Seniors and Parents are encouraged to take a look at this information. Scholarships are updated weekly. Parents who need their login in order to access Naviance/Family Connections should contact their student’s counselor.

Baccalaureate hosted by FCA
A Baccalaureate Program will be held on May 11th at 6:30pm in the Park Hill South Auditorium. Although participation is optional, all seniors and parents are invited to attend this inspirational program dressed in their cap and gown and proper attire. No jeans, tennis shoes or flip flops. No one will be allowed to participate without a cap and gown.

May 17th - Senior Last Day
• Final Exams (Blocks 1 & 2)
• Graduation rehearsal will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the small gym. All seniors are expected at attend rehearsal. Students will not need to have their cap and gown for rehearsal.
• Senior laptop check-in will follow rehearsal in the small gym.
• Senior slide show in the small gym followed by senior bell ringing.
Seniors will complete their day around 12:30 p.m.

2017 Graduation will be Sunday, May 21st, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.

•Tickets or reservations are not required. You may invite as many family members and friends as you would like. Graduating seniors will need to report to Community of Christ on Sunday, May 21st by 11:45 a.m. in cap and gown. Don’t forget your tassel. Graduates will be lined-up and recognized in alphabetical order.
•Men should wear dress shirts, dress slacks, and dress shoes. The ladies should wear dresses or dress slacks and comfortable shoes. No jeans, tennis shoes or flip flops. Students will not be allowed to walk with cameras, purses or cell phones. Please make arrangements for someone to hold these items for you during the ceremony.
•Cap and Gown will be worn as issued and not disfigured in anyway. No tape, signs, armbands, rhinestones, etc... Noise makers or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
•Graduates will receive their diploma after the ceremony in the auditorium basement lobby if all fines have been paid and all discipline obligations are complete. You will receive notification prior to graduation of any fines or discipline obligations that need to be resolved. If for some reason you will not be able to participate in the commencement ceremony, please contact Tammy Becker at 816-359-6755 or Beckerta@parkhill.k12.mo.us at your earliest convenience.
•The doors at Community of Christ will open to family and friends at 12:00 p.m. Carpooling is recommended. There are special setting areas available for handicapped visitors.
•Student Council will be selling reserved priority seating for $20.00 per person beginning April 1st. The sections are located on either side of the graduates and will be sold first-come, first serve. To purchase a reserved seat please contact Sarah Adkins at AdkinsS@parkhill.k12.mo.us
•Pictures of each graduate will be taken during the ceremony by Reed Portrait Group. You should receive preliminary information from them prior to graduation. Park Hill School District will record the ceremony and offer a complete DVD for $20.00. Contact Samantha Fitzgerald at 816-359-6716 or FitzgeraldSa@parkhill.k12.mo.us for more information.
•The Senior Class is offering the opportunity for you to purchase the potted plants used as decoration at the venue for graduation. You can take home a memorable keepsake of your child’s graduation ceremony for $25. We are also extending the opportunity for you to dedicate your plant in the name of a graduating senior, a family member or person absent from the ceremony. This is at no additional cost, and your dedications will be listed prior to the graduation service. Plant pick-up will start immediately after graduates leave the auditorium (please bring proper identification), and end 15 minutes after the graduation ceremony ends. The venue will not allow any items left behind, and the plants will not be transported back to PHS. Every purchase made will be put in a drawing to win the large floral arrangement displayed at graduation. The winner of this arrangement will be notified prior to the ceremony.
