Any sophomore who would like to join Sophomore Exec and represent the Class of 2022 should attend our first meeting of the school year.This meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 22, at 7:00 am in room B118. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Deering in B118 or Mrs. Barton in A108.




Parking stickers can be purchased in the main office after school for Juniors and Seniors. Sophomores will be able to purchase parking stickers after September 1st due to parking availability. All fines need to be taken care of before a parking sticker will be issued.


Open House - Back to School Night

Monday, August 19th - 7:00 - 8:30 pm

Students and parents have the opportunity to visit classrooms, meet teachers and learn more about course requirements and teacher expectations. See you there!!


Sophomore Class Ring Premier, Class meeting order/information packets distributed on Tuesday, September 10th during Tutorial.

Sophomore class ring order will be Tuesday, September 17th during lunch periods and from 4:00-6:00 pm for sophomores and family members to order their class ring together. Additional ring orders will be taken during lunch periods September 18th & 24th.


"5th Hour... It's Extra"

Beginning fall 2019, PHS will be introducing a new academic support for all students Monday through Friday. "5th Hour" will be staffed by content area teachers and run from 2:45 - 4:30 pm in the library during the week. Early release Wednesdays, "5th Hour" will be in session from 2:00 - 3:45 pm and student-athletes are encouraged to use this time for academic support while their coaches are in teacher collaborations.

"5th Hour" is open for all students. Students taking their first advanced placement or dual credit courses are highly encouraged to participate as well as students struggling in a course. Bus transportation home is available for free on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. If you have any questions about this exciting new support for the PHS student body, please contact our MTSS Coordinator, Katie Manga.


Do you have an interest in coding? Do you want to learn how to design mobile apps? Maybe even fly a drone? Then come out to Computer Science Club. Wednesday, August 21st, will be our first meeting for the new school year in room A202 at 3:00. Please see Mr. Leibrand if you have any questions.


Junior Exec will meet on Thursday August 22nd at 7AM in room B117 to kick off the new year. We will be scheduling workers for concessions for both football and volleyball games as well as discussing our plans for this school year.Please see Mrs. Turpin, Mr. Cramer, or Mr. Leibrand with any questions.

Happy Birthday to You and You and You!

For the 2019-2020 school year, the Library/Media Center along with Gathering Grounds would like to take the opportunity to celebrate every staff and student birthday.Please stop by the LMC on your birthday so that we can have the chance to wish you“Happy Birthday” in person and present you with a couple of gifts.For those of you whose birthday happens to fall on a weekend, please drop by the LMC as close to your birthday as possible and for those people who were lucky enough to have a birthday in the summer, please stop by at your earliest opportunity so that we can share our best wishes with you as soon as possible.

Spanish club will have its first meeting of the year on Wednesday, August 21 at 7AM in B205. We will be discussing club and officer requirements. If you have any questions, please contact Senora Roth.


Attention A+ Students: Early hours opportunities:

·Ambassador: 6:30-8:30pm Monday, AUG 19 at South.8 students needed to serve as tour guides and give directions to parents during Open House.

·Activity Leader: 6:15-8:00pm Tuesday, AUG 20 at Walden. 3 students needed to lead games and activities during PTA meetings.



Attendance Information

Parents are required to contact the attendance office to report student absences before 8:00 a.m. the day of the absence. We encourage you to dial the attendance office direct line(816) 359-4121. For your convenience, the answering machine will be in operation 24/7. There are many occasions when the attendance office experiences a high volume of calls. If you reach our voicemail, please do not hang up and call again. Leaving a message
will keep your place in line and will allow us to assist you more quickly. When requesting an early release, please call as early as possible in the morning. If you are unable to call in the morning, we ask that a minimum of 30 minutes is allowed for ample time to locate your student.

Each block a student is late to class, including 1st block, they will report to a Tardy Table. After their 5th tardy parents will receive an email notifying you of the number of tardies and potential consequences if your student(s) continues being tardy. Parents will be notified of all consequences and you or your student can always talk to Dr. Esco about their specific situations.1st block tardies will be excused with a doctor’s note or medical documentation only.
